Lynne's A Taste Of Summer

A Taste of Summer

Lynne here bringing you my take on "A Taste of Summer",
 choosing from the wonderful collection,
lovely colours and elements,
to make my card.
Firstly I printed 3 different papers and the lovely frame.
I cut out the frame and backed with one of the papers,
I then used 2 papers to print back to back
to create my centre piece.
I cut 5inch square, folded four corners into
centre to make smaller square then folded tip
 outwards creating this design.
I then printed some elements and placed them on card.
Well here it is - hope you enjoy my card.

Till next time - Have Fun Crafting!

Lynne

Follow on - Artistic Expressions

Following on from the launch of the new collection -

Artistic expressions made by

Lynne

From the mini kit I chose to
make a clutch purse.
Firstly a sheet of cardstock 28cm x 28cm,
score at 7cm each side,
alt.sides score at 10cm,
fold along score lines,
fold and score in corners,
glue to make shape.
Cut 2 pieces background paper
9.5cm x 13cm for front and back,
make flap with background paper,
decorate with flower elements.

Another way of using Artistic Expressions is
using the frame. I put a photo of my
easter bunny and teddy in,
embelished with butterflies cut from
background paper,
and finished with floweer and ribbon bow.

Our Design Team members have had lots of fun making different creations from elements from the "Elves Collection" that launched in the Dragons Lair Designs store on the 1st March.

With several items shown online by various Design Team members since our post on the launch day, we thought that we'd collect some of them together to show you today.  We hope they show you some of the versatility of the collection and let you see some creations you have missed seeing.

Gwyneth
I've been cardmaking for my Inspiration post on this blog at the begining of the month. You can find more details - here - but here are one photo each of them.

Lynne
Lynne's been papercrafting and made some interesting and different things to inspire you.
She's used one of the backgrounds printed on paper to decorated this.

Diane
The first of Diane's card is on a Triptich theme, which she's made by printing the bookmarks at a smaller size.

Another lovely card by Diane, this time incorporating a tag that's in the collection.

More "The Pansy Collection" Creations

Have you got your hands on
"The Pansy Collection"
yet?

Our Design Team members love the new "The Pansy Collection", that launched in the Dragons Lair Designs store on the 1st April, so much that they are still creating and showing makes made with different items from within the collection.

So we thought it would be nice to do another post to collect together the latest makes.  We hope you enjoy looking at them.

Don't Forget - there's a 40% discount on the cost of all of the items in the collection for a whole month!  Go on, have a look in the store to see how much of a discount is being given!

Gwyneth
A Side Stepper card with matting and layering from backgrounds and a mat from the collection.

A few additions from her crafty stash and Jacqui created this gorgeous card - don't forget that items from "The Pansy Collection" work well with lots of stuff you've already got.

Susan
A gorgeous little notebook decorated with butterflies cut out of a Pansy Collection background.

Janna
Prior to the launch Janna teased everybody with a lovely card made using elements from The Pansy Collection and a tea set digi-stamp from the store.  She's now made a pillow-box to give a gift in to go with the card.

If you want to give a little something to somebody then a bookmark is always useful - and you could personalise them with the recipient's name rather than a greeting.

Keep an eye out for even more creations from The Pansy Collection made by our very creative Design Team members.  This collection has inspired the DT members to make a huge variety of crafty makes to inspire everybody.

Inspiration by Gwyneth - April - The Pansy Collection Shaped Card

Good Morning Everybody!

Hi everybody.

It's been a few months since I did a card as an inspiration piece for this blog so I thought I'd make a shaped card to show you this month.  This time I've got my die-cutting machine, and a few dies I picked up recently, out to make a card that opens out quite dimensional but still folds reasonably flat for posting (although it would still have to go as a Large Letter in the UK if you wanted to post it, but great for hand delivery).

I used  "The Pansy Collection" kit that was launched on the 1st in the Dragons Lair Designs store.  The colours of this collection are gorgeous and it contains backgrounds that will work well with lots of other items from your crafting stash so you don't have to make a floral card with it.  I decided to use it for an understated Easter card.

This is a photo of the card I made:

Iesu = Jesus, Mae'n Fyw = He Lives, Llawenhawn = Let Us Rejoyce

These are what I used:
.
Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
Items from "The Pansy Collection" available - here - in the store.

Consumables:
250gsm Super Smooth cardstock, Quick Grab Wet Glue, Brother Labeler Tape, White Hammered Cardstock
Equipment:
Scissors, My Craft Studio Software, Brother Labeling Machine, Tattered Lace Shutter Card Die Set, Cut&Boss Machine

This is what I did:
I took a lot of the elements from The Pansy Collection into the software and resized it to suite the project I was working on.  I used the software's digital die-cut function to cut out a cross from the tag.  The elements and some sheets of backgrounds were then printed out.  I cut the tag out by hand using scissors, but used the shutter card die set to cut out the base card from hammered card, and all the matting and layering pieces from my printed out sheets.  I used white on clear and black on clear tape to print out the wording I wanted using my labeling machine.  I then folded the card along the lines indicated and glued everything in place.

These are a few more photos of my card taken from different angles, starting with a closeup of the tag.

Inspiration by Gwyneth - December

Good Morning Everybody!

As it's now December, and most crafters will be well ahead with their Christmas crafting, I decided to try and inspire you with some pieces that don't require a huge amount of time to create, that can be individually personalised if you want, and to carry on the crafting after Christmas with a simple Thank You card/digi-card and scrapbook layout.

By keeping the same basic layout throughout I hope to show you that personalising doesn't have to be a difficult thing to do, and can be quick if you suddenly find that you've missed creating for a few people. Personalising can mean using different languages for different people if friends and family come from different parts of the world, or it can mean putting the name of who the creation is for on each card.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
    "Christmastide Collection - Page Kit".
(a similar idea for cards, digi-cards, layouts, etc., can be made using any of the DLD kits)
      Consumables:
250gsm Super Smooth white cardstock; Zig 2 Way glue pen; Glue Gel; Finger-lift Tape; White 6" square pre-scored base cards
      Equipment:
      Scissors

      Let's start with a quick card -

Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda = Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
The design has all been put together digitally in My Craft Studio from some elements from the kit.  This was then printed out at a little less than 6" square, trimmed and attached to the front of a 6" square white card from my crafting stash - Quick and easy.

      The card is completely flat.

With a little more time, and printing extra copies of some of the elements, a more elaborate card card can be made.
For this card I used a Zig 2 Way glue pen to put glue on the main greeting and on various places on the extra layers and then added green foiling before using glue gel to attach the extra pieces.

This card has some dimension, but I purposly kept the dimension low so that the card would go through the post on a standard letter stamp in the UK

And if time has really run out and you don't have time to post or hand deliver then you could just put a digital design together and E-mail it - putting on the recipient's name.

In fact, if you've got enough time you could change the name before printing out each and every card front to make personalised cards to put in with the gifts of every family member and close friend.
      .
And come Christmas I'm sure you'll be taking photos of the children opening their Christmas gifts - and they will need to thank everybody - so what better way than include photos of them wearing or playing with their gifts?  Digitally put together a design and again either E-mail it or print it out and make it into a real card.  Diolch is Welsh for Thank You - remember that using a kit such as this you can make your cards or other creations in any language you want - in fact you could use the same layout and not only personalise your Christmas cards with the recipient's name on front, but you could change the language if required as well.
      Diolch = Thank You

And into the New Year I'm sure you'll be looking over the photos you've taken and wondering what to do with them all - what about a bit of scrapbooking!  You can either digitally put together a page on your computer, or print out lots of elements and backgrounds from the kit and build a totally paper based scrapbook page, or go hybrid and do a bit of both.  You can even keep your scrapbooking on a similar layout theme to your other Christmas crafting.
      Nadolig 2000 = Christmas 2000
Of course, you could go a totally different route - but whatever you decide to do as Christmas crafting - have fun, and have a wonderful Christmas all of  you.
