Spring is HERE .....

The first day of Spring is Here :D

Spring is one of the four temperate seasons, the transition period between winter and summer.

Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and broadly to ideas of rebirth, renewal and regrowth.

and also a time to bring out the happy colors and watch natures beauty start to bloom.

Have a peek in store and get your spring creations started :D

"Pick of the Week" - 29 - Boy at Bedtime

Good Morning Everybody!
It's Gwyneth here again today - back with another "Pick of the Week".
This time I've been playing with another digi-stamp from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop and created two, simple, "Invitation" cards.  I've used the same digi-stamp on both, making one an Invitation for a boy to give to a friend to come for a sleep-over, and the other for a boy to give to a friend to come for a "messy" play session - the type of play session where the parents are asked to make sure their child is wearing cloths that can get totally messy..

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
Consumables:
300gsm, Super Smooth white cardstock; ProMarkers; Finger-lift tape; Glue Gel; 6" square, scalloped edge, white base card; A6 white base card made by cutting, scoreing and folding a sheet of white linen textured cardstock; "Invitation" gold peel-off; Pale blue background paper from my crafting stash; Brown cardstock from my crafting stash.
Equipment:
Score Board; Scissors.

1st Card:

Angled view to show the dimension of the image.

2nd Card:

Closer look at coloured in image.

Angled view to show dimension of image.

For the 1st card I did a bit of paper piecing for the dungarees and teddy, with ProMarkers used for the rest of the image and to add details to teddy.  Whereas for the second I used all ProMarker colouring throughout.  Both images were cut out on the outline and shaped before being attached to the respective card fronts using glue gel.

-oOo-
And that is it from me for today.
The "Den" has a variety of new posts practically every day now, so please do pop back regularly to see the inspiration cards and other crafted items, plus tutorials, etc. - I hope that you'll also visit here again the begining of April, when I should be back with a new "Pick of the Week" item to show you
- I'm working on a new creation for that now, so I should have it finished in time.

COLOURING WITH PROMARKERS ~ BROWN HAIR ~

Hi everyone! Fiona here, with the second of my Promarker colouring tutorials.
My colouring rules:
1. Do NOT compare your work to others. We all have to start somewhere, and there will ALWAYS be someone else's work you think is better than yours!
2. PRACTICE is the golden rule....it might not make perfect, but the more you practice, and experiment, the better you will get!
3. Colouring is FUN!!! If you're not enjoying it, walk away and come back another day!

I am, by no means, an expert. I've been colouring with Promarkers for just over two years and I still get it wrong. I am here to share my techniques and hopefully help you in some way.
So here goes:

Today I am sharing my technique for colouring BROWN hair. I am using Bedtime Girl available in store.
There are many colour combinations you can use but this is my favourite. Today, I am using the "flicking" technique; the method stays the same whatever colour you chose!
Starting with WALNUT, make small flicks towards where the light would catch the hair

Next colour is HENNA,  flicking over and beyond the WALNUT flicks
My third colour is TAN, again extending those flicks toward the centre
Then, as always for depth, repeat the whole process, adding more flicks if you want to
This is the end result with TWO coats of colour
However, to add even more depth, I have added small flicks of COOL GREY number 5

It is entirely your choice on how many layers of colour you use. It depends on the finished look you want.
Don't be scared! Give it a go!
I'll be back next month with another tutorial. Please comment below if there's anything you'd like help with.
Big Hugs
Fiona xx

Crafting on a budget

Hi Everyone I hope that you are all well and happy. Its time for this fortnights Crafting on a budget feature and this fortnight I thought I would show you a little topper I have made using eyeshadow.
The eyeshadows I have used are shimmer shadows and give exactly the same effect as mica powders and are a fraction of the cost.

A few things to use
A few things that can be used for this project, You will see that I have a versamark ink pad here they do cost around £5 but last forever. For todays project I have used the blue and the pearly shimmer shadows.
 Pic 2
using some masking tape I have stuck down a butterfly I have taken from a mica mask set and have pressed all over with the versamark ink pad. Using the blue eyeshadow to start with I took a make up brush and dipped it into the pot and tapped it over the topper leaving the mask in place.

Pic 3
Gently lift and remove the mask, using the blue and ivory shimmer eyeshadows it has given a lovely shimmery effect, I have also used my finger to just blend and soften parts too. I then gave it a quick spray with hairspray which seals it.
Pic 4
And here you go a finished topper using EYESHADOW the ones I have used are the loose powder ones and come from my local Poundland store, they also stock the solid ones ( see first pic) you get 4 for £1 and a little goes a long way. Personally I think that this is a fab alternative to mica powders and costs a fair bit less too. As you can see I have added a few small flowers, sequins and a sentiment to create this topper, the whole thing has cost just a few pence to make so that is what I call Crafting on a budget and of course the same techniques can be used on any size project. There is a feature posted back in February on here showing how I made a simple mask/template from a plastic milk bottle.
I hope that you have found todays post useful. Thank you for stopping by
Hugs Tina

Shrove Tuesday

Pancakes are associated with the day preceding Lent because they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. The liturgical fasting emphasized eating plainer food and refraining from food that would give pleasure: In many cultures, this means no meat, dairy, or eggs.

So who will be feasting on Pancakes today ????

I know we will as my daughter will not let me get away with this tradition, served in this house with sugar and lemon juice Yum  :)

Inspiration post + FREEBIE...

Morning everyone..

Marleen here with my monthly inspiration post.
Once a month I will grab an image from the Stamping Dragon Design STORE and make a project to share with you.

This month's post is a little bit extra special as I have gotten our designer Janette to make you all a freebie as well..
Scroll down in order to grab the shamrock freebie,

Here is what I have made with this freebie.

For this card I used the "Simple man" papers.
I printed the one of the sheets from the paper pack and put it back in the printer.
I then printed the shamrock out on the sheet, cut it out, added glue around the edges and sprinkled green glitter over the glue. While the shamrock was drying I got on with the rest of my card.

Printing another sheet from the paper pack, I covered my card blank and added faux stiches.
I also printed the little dragon from the "Ruperts st Paddy day" pack and coloured him in.

Once all was coloured and dry I simply layered the images on top of each other with pinflair and voila.

 Shamrock FREEBIE.. Scroll Down..

And here you go..  From Stamping Dragon Design to YOU..
Have fun.

Please note this freebie is for personal use ONLY.

And that is it from me today.. I hope you like what I have made.
Thank you for stopping by & for any comments left behind.
