"Pick of the Week" - 29 - Boy at Bedtime

Good Morning Everybody!
It's Gwyneth here again today - back with another "Pick of the Week".
This time I've been playing with another digi-stamp from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop and created two, simple, "Invitation" cards.  I've used the same digi-stamp on both, making one an Invitation for a boy to give to a friend to come for a sleep-over, and the other for a boy to give to a friend to come for a "messy" play session - the type of play session where the parents are asked to make sure their child is wearing cloths that can get totally messy..

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
Consumables:
300gsm, Super Smooth white cardstock; ProMarkers; Finger-lift tape; Glue Gel; 6" square, scalloped edge, white base card; A6 white base card made by cutting, scoreing and folding a sheet of white linen textured cardstock; "Invitation" gold peel-off; Pale blue background paper from my crafting stash; Brown cardstock from my crafting stash.
Equipment:
Score Board; Scissors.

1st Card:

Angled view to show the dimension of the image.

2nd Card:

Closer look at coloured in image.

Angled view to show dimension of image.

For the 1st card I did a bit of paper piecing for the dungarees and teddy, with ProMarkers used for the rest of the image and to add details to teddy.  Whereas for the second I used all ProMarker colouring throughout.  Both images were cut out on the outline and shaped before being attached to the respective card fronts using glue gel.

-oOo-
And that is it from me for today.
The "Den" has a variety of new posts practically every day now, so please do pop back regularly to see the inspiration cards and other crafted items, plus tutorials, etc. - I hope that you'll also visit here again the begining of April, when I should be back with a new "Pick of the Week" item to show you
- I'm working on a new creation for that now, so I should have it finished in time.

"Pick of the Week" - 26 - Rupert in Window

Good Morning Everybody!
It's Gwyneth here again today - back with another "Pick of the Week".
Those of you who've read my own blog may remember that at the start of the year I said that my aim this year was to use up bits that had come to light in my crafting stash during my tidy up during the autumn last year, together with any new items I might be tempted by.  So this time, together with playing with another digi-stamp from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop I've used old paper flowers from my crafting stash, and a new sheet of cardstock, and very little else.
In fact I've tried to keep it a quick and simple card.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
"Rupert in Window" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Super Smooth white cardstock; ProMarkers - Pear Green, Moss, Spring Lilac; Wink of Stella Brush Pen - Clear, Violet; 2mm deep double sided shaker tape; Glue Gel; Hunkydory patterned Adorable Scorable (free with issue 15 of Hunkydory magazine)
Equipment:
Score Board; Craft Knife; Scissors.

I've kept the colouring of this image in very simple - no using of three or more colours per area for blending, no using dozens of colours - I've just used two shades of green for Rupert -Pear Green all over and then Moss around the sides to give shadow or depth.  The curtains were coloured all over with the Spring Lilac colour and then I went back with the same colour to add a few lines of deeper colour.  I then used the Violet Wink of Stella on the window frame and Clear on Rupert's eye and over the ribbon and bow on the background cardstock. (One thing to be aware of is that, as Adorable Scorable is a coated cardstock, the Wink of Stella pools and takes ages to dry on it, but it leaves very subtle "dewdrop" sparkle look.)
I've cut out the background behind Rupert so that the pattern of the cardstock appears as a "wallpaper" in the image.
You'll notice that I haven't put a greeting on this card.  I've done this as I'm not sure what language the card will be needed in or what occasion it will be used for.  I can see it being suitable for so many occasions - Thinking of You; I Miss You;  Sorry To See You Go - when somebody is moving and leaving an area, or leaving a job; Welcome To Your New Home, or Welcome To The Neighbourhood - when somebody moves into a new house; the list is endless.

-oOo-
And that is it from me for today.
The "Den" has new posts of a very varied nature up practically every day now, so please do pop back regularly to see the inspiration cards and other crafted items, plus tutorials, etc. - I hope that you'll also visit here again in four weeks time when I should be back with a new "Pick of the Week" item to show you
- I'm going to get my thinking cap on to see what I can come up with.

"Pick of the Week" - 22 - Autumn Leaves Tutorial

Good Morning Everybody!
Gwyneth back with another "Pick of the Week".
And as it's my first "Pick of the Week" post here on The Den this year I'd like to wish you all a fantastic 2014.

I've been playing with another digi-stamp from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop and have produced a gatefold card that I think will be suitable as a male card.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
"Autumn Leaves Bookmark" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Super Smooth white cardstock; ProMarkers; Black Cardstock; Frosted Gold Cardstock; 2mm deep double sided foam tape; 2mm deep double sided shaker tape; Glue Gel; Glitter Glue; Peel-off "Penblwydd Hapus" greeting (Welsh for "Happy Birthday")
Equipment:
Score Board; Perfect Layers rulers; Craft Knife; Scissors.
After printing and colouring in the image I cut the pieces out.
But rather than keep the little envelope in one piece I cut it down the centre and then cut off the tabs.  The two halves were matted onto a frozed gold cardstock, trimming to leave a 3/16 border around three sides of each but no border on the adjoining side.
The matted images were stuck to the front of a gatefold card I'd made from black cardstock.  I used 2mm tape to attach, using the wider tape on the right hand side, but using the narrow, shaker tape, around the three sides of the left hand side.  I added the glitter glue and peel-off.
Before sticking I'd cut a half circle notch out of the gatefold on the let hand side, and as the topper is only stuck on three sides, and not along the centre on this side the bookmark just slots in.
Just grip in the notch and the bookmark slides out as a little gift within the card.  A nice idea if you are giving a book, or a book token, as a gift.  In fact, If you make the mat large enough you should be able to use the same method to slot in a gift card, or even cash.
-oOo-
And that is it from me for today.
You should find various other "Den" Design Team members here with their "Pick of the Week" projects over the next few weeks - I hope that you'll also visit here again in four weeks time when I should be back with a new "Pick of the Week" item to show you
- I'm going to get my thinking cap on to see what I can come up with.
In the meantime you'll find lots of other posts popping up on this blog practically daily, so please do come back to have a look soon.

"Pick of the Week" - 18

Good Morning Everybody!
Gwyneth back with another "Pick of the Week".

I'm sure it won't surprise you to read that I've been playing with another digi-stamp from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop.

I said in my last "Pick of the Week" post that I was "hoping to produce a card for a child" this time.  What I've gone for is a "Get Well Soon" card for a child who's feeling poorly.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
"Hoppy Frog on Lily Pad" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Super Smooth white cardstock; ProMarkers; Metalic Marker - Blue; Marble effect cardstock - two shades of blue; Adorable Scoreable cardstock - light blue; Satin Board; Glue Gel
Equipment:
Circle Scissors; Score Board; Scissors.

This card was created from a series of circles.  The base card is an circular easel card, and all the elements are circles.

Even the digi-stamp was cut out using the circle scissors before the top half was cut out close to the digi.  The wording here says "I heard that you lost your voice and now you're croaking like me".

The different circles were stuck on at slightly different heights to give the card front some dimension.

And that is it from me for today.
You should find Marleen here next Monday with the next "Pick of the Week" project, Fran the Monday after that, and Tania the Monday after that - I hope that you'll also visit here again in four weeks time when I should be back with a new "Pick of the Week" card to show you

"Pick of the Week" - 14

Good Morning Everybody!
Gwyneth back with another "Pick of the Week".

I've been having fun playing with another digi-stamp from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop.

I've got another Christmas card for you this time, but this one is a bit "pink" for a baby girl's 1st Christmas.

Stamping Dragon Designs Items:
"Hippo Christmas" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Super Smooth cardstock; ProMarkers and FlexMarker; Satin Board: 3 x different shades of Pink, Red; 1mm deep, double sided, foam tape; Ultra tacky red backed tape; Lace; Die-cut Holly; Red glitter glue; Silver Peel-offs; White glitter flocking; Wet Glue; Finger-lift Tap; Glue Gel
Equipment:
Circle Scissors; Score Board; Scissors; Corner Rounder Punch

After printing out the image I coloured it in using my markers and then put some wet glue on the white hat edge and pompom.  I then put white glitter flocking on this.  I used a circle scissors to cut out the digi and a mat to put behind it.

I also used my circle scissors to cut a series of pink and red circles from some satin board, folded them in half and stuck them together using quick grab wet glue.  I then went over the join laying down a band of red glitter glue.
The base card was made by scoring two sheets of satin board at the half way point.  One was cut along the score line and the other was scored again from front corner to corner.  I used finger-lift tape to attach the half sheet inside the other card, and the one scored diagonally was cut in half along the score line to give a half front card, to which lace was attached along the cut line using ultra tacky tape and the digi-stamp on its circular mat.

The card was further decorated with die cut holly leaves and silver peel-offs from my crafting stash.
So there you have it - one "1st Christmas" card - I hope you like it.

If you've left it a bit late and still need to finish your Christmas cards, but don't have time to go colouring in this little digi-stamp for yourself, then one version of "Hippo Christmas Coloured" is available in the shop - here.

Not long till Christmas everybody.  I hope that you've managed to get a lot of the little jobs you wanted to do ahead of time all done, and that the cards you are going to post are ready.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

And that is it from me for today.
Marleen will be here next Monday with a "Pick of the Week" project to share with you all, Fran the Monday after that, and Tania will be sharing with you in three weeks time - I hope that you'll visit here again in four weeks time when I should be back with a new "Pick of the Week" card to show you - I'm hoping to produce a card for a child.
In the meantime you'll find lots of other posts popping up on this blog in between, so please do come back to have a look soon.

Pick of the week

Hi Folks it's Tania here with my second pick of the week.
Where do the weeks keep going
Christmas is just around the corner
31 days and counting
The image that I have used has come from the fabulous Stamping Dragon Designs Shop .

There are some wonderful images that you can purchase and once you buy one you will be hooked.

For my second image I have chosen
a fun image
Cat on fence
I have coloured my image with promarkers( I love ginger cats, so most cats get coloured to look like my large ginger tom, Monty). To finish the image I used cloud masks and dusted over with my brushes to make my sky  I then decoupaged the cat on the fence. The image topper is mounted on black card then on orange paper mounted on a brown card blank. I used a footprint punch to  cut out the footprints and finished off with some Kitty ribbon from my stash. The sentiment is computer generated.
The image could be used for a male or female card for any occasion.
Make sure you pop on over to the Shop and have a browse , there is a great selection of  Images available for you to choose from.

We also have a Stamping Dragon Facebook Group , where we have lots of fun , inspiration for you , mini challenges and lots , lots more, so why not come over and see us.

Well that's  it from me for today, Gwyneth  will be bringing you the next
Pick of the Week next Monday ,
See you soon
Hugs  T xx

Pick of the week

Hi everyone..

Another month has flown by and its once more my time to do the pick of the week..
Being the DTL (design team leader) I have the honour of being one of the first to see and often also play with the new designs coming to the Stamping Dragon STORE.

The pick of the week is really for us to show and refresh some of the older images from the store, but with this brand new image, I just HAD to show her off.

She is the lastest member of our Dragon Family and is called Lulu.
I am VERY proud of Lulu as I got to name her.

Please meet Lulu..

And here is what I did with her:

The little butterflies at the bottom is really my pick of the week. I had really printed this butterfly in topper size, but as I decided to colour Lulu in yellow, it hit me that the 2 would work really well together. I simply printed the butterflies out in a row and cut it as a boarder. I printed 1 extra in the same size and layered up on a foampad.

My little butterfly is part of this pack. They all come as individual files so each one can be printed on its own as well as being re-sized to your hearts content..
You can find them HERE...

And that is it from me today.
Thank you fro stopping by and for any comments left behind.

"Pick of the Week" - 10

Good Morning Everybody!
Gwyneth back with another "Pick of the Week".

I've been having fun playing with more dig-stamps from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop.

With less than two months to go to Christmas I've used a couple of Christmas digi-stamps this time.

This is a dimensional card where the Christmas scene can be seen behind the window, or the bow can be untied for a closer look at the scene.

Stamping Dragon Designs Items:
"Oh Christmas Tree" - found - Here - in the shop.
"Jiggy in front of Fire" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Super Smooth white cardstock; ProMarkers; Metalic Markers; Wink of Stella pen; Sakura Clear Star; 8" square cream textured base card; 6" square cream textured base card; Gold, linen textured cardstock; Red Satin Board; Red striped cardstock; Yellow patterned cardstock; Glitter Flocking; Die cut holly leaves; Red glitter glue; Red organza ribbon; Acetate; Greeting panel - "Nadolig Llawen" which is Welsh for "Happy Christmas"; Ultra sticky double sided tape;1mm deep, double sided, foam tapel; Finger-lift Tape; Glue Gel
Equipment:
Score Board; Scissors; Steel Edged ruler; Craft Knife

The smaller card was scored 1cm into the back from the fold to give a dimensional "spine" to the card, and then the shortened back had a red card attached to make it the same size as the front.  Windows were cut out of the front of the card and a sheet of acetate was attached to the back of the window, trapping a piece of  red ribbon between window frame and acetate.  This smaller card was matted and layered onto the larger card, again trapping a piece of red ribbon between the layers.

I printed out the two digi-stamps out onto Super Smooth Cardstock, coloured them in using my ProMarkers and some other markers, before cutting them out.  The yellow patterned panel was stuck inside the smaller card, and the digis attached, the fireplace image using foam tape and the tree using a "box" constructed of a strip of cardstock.

Further decoration of die-cut holly leaves and glitter flocking was added to decorate the front and the two ribbon ends were tied in a bow.

And as a little extra this time - I've decorated a candle with one of the digis I used on the card to give as a gift with the card.
I attached a piece of printable tissue to a sheet of lightweight paper using finger-lift tape and printed the digi onto it at the right size for my project.  I then coloured it in using my ProMarkers.
I tore around the edge of the tissue close to the image, put it onto a pillar candle, wrapped greaseproof paper around and heated with my heat gun until the wax began to melt.

This candle can be burnt, but not on the holly wreath decorative base I made from Satin Board and die-cut holly leaves and berries from my crafting stash.
-oOo-
If you love the images used here, but think that you won't have enough time left to colour in a lot of digi-stamps to make Christmas cards, then the images are available already coloured from the shop:
"Oh Christmas Tree Coloured" - Here.
"Jiggy in front of Fire" - Here.

And that is it from me for today.
Marleen will be here next Monday to share her next "Pick of the Week" project to share with you all, and Fran the Monday after that.  The following Monday we have Tania sheduled for the "Pick of the Week" slot, and I hope that you'll visit here again in four weeks time when I'm hoping to be back with another Christmas card to show you.
In the meantime there are a lot of other interesting posts planned for other days - and you might even find me popping back at some point before my next "Pick of the Week" slot.

If you fancy trying out some of Stamping Dragon Designs, please do visit the Store to find all sorts of digital goodies (you'll find great digi-stamps and lots more).

Pick of The Week - Monochrome Journal Kit

Hello everyone..

Its time for the "Pick of the week" and this week is aaaaaalllll mine ;-)

For my pick of the week, Ive been having a play with a quite new product from the store..
Its a christmas journal. I love digital jornals. For the simple reason, that you get sooo much to play with in a kit and only your imagination is your limit.

This is the kit ive used. you can find it HERE...

And here is what Ive made :
The flowers are cut with a die.
The ribbon is from my stach. I was very golden so I added a bit of paint over it as I was adding paint to the box.
This is in fact an old tea box. Im a bit of an earl grey addict so I always buy the BIG boxes. So when I finished the last box I thought Id have a wee play with the it. And with the christmas journal lying all printed and waiting to play on my desk, the 2 was just a match made in heaven.

I love the way this wee box turned out and it now stands on the mantel containg the christmas decorations my kids and I have made so far to add to the tree when it comes out :-)

And that is it from me today. I hope you like my box.
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments left behind.
If you fancy seeing more of my work, pop over to my blog:

"Pick of the Week" - 6

Good Morning Everybody!
Gwyneth back with a new "Pick of the Week".

For this week I've been playing with another item from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop.

This time I couldn't decide which colours to use on the image - so I decided to colour it in twice and make up two different cards.

Both cards have a topper panel with the same cat digi-stamp, printed out at the same size onto the same card stock -

Both cards have flower embellishments -

But one is square card of around 15cm -

And one is A5 in size -

Are you a black cat or a white cat person?

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
"Holly's New Bed" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Super Smooth card stock; ProMarkers; Pre-die cut trellis, frame, greetings panel; White Hammered card stock; Blue card stock; Pink card stock; Black patterned background and flower; Black glitter ribbon; Sticky Back gems; Finger-lift tape; Foam tape; Glue gel
Equipment:
Scoreboard; Scissors; Corner Rounder Punch; Circle Scissors; Decorative edge cutter.

For both these cards I've used bits and pieces from my crafting stash to build up the card I've put the digi-stamp toppers onto, but there are backgrounds available in the Store that you might like to incorporate into your crafting if you want. The little blue flowers on the "white cat" card are hand made from waste from another style of trellis, so why not have fun going through your card stock to see what you have that would work with the various Stamping Dragon Designs digi-stamps - I know I had some fun working with this little cat and rifling through my stash to see what I could use with the two colours of cat.

And that is it from me for today.
Marleen will be here next Monday with a "Pick of the Week" project to share with you all, and Fran the Monday after that.  In three weeks time we've got a new member joining our little team. I'll hopefully see you back here in four weeks time for my next "Pick of the Week" when I'm going to show you a card and gift for Christmas made using two digi-stamps from Stamping Dragon Designs.

Pick of the Week 5

Hi , it's Monday morning so that means it's time for another Pick of the Week from the Dragon's Den.

For my Pick of the Week I have used the image Nurse Penny , which can be found here at Stamping Dragon Designs .

I made a fairly simple background for the card as I wanted the image to stand out.  So I used a blue base card and then added some spotty paper to the lower half, Penny is coloured with Pro markers.
I then added a sentiment to the top of the card, and for a fun element I added a plaster at the bottom.

Well that's me for this weeks Pick of the Week, Gwyneth will be with you next week.

But in the meantime why not go and have a browse in the fantastic online shop Stamping Dragon Designs , or come on over and join our fun facebook group , Stamping Dragon Facebook Group , where we show inspiration, have fun challenges and a Question of the day , amongst other things, we'd love to see you .

Or if you would like to join in with a blog challenge, pop on over to the Stamping with the Dragon Blog , there is a fortnightly challenge.

Well happy crafting, and I will see you all soon,
Fran xxxx

"Pick of the Week"

Morning everyone..

A wee post from me today to share my "Pick of the Week".

My card for this week, Ive made with one of the recent additions to the store.
I just LOVE this sillohette stamp. Its one of those stamps where you can really have a good play with colouring.

On this card, Ive used chalks to colour. I dont normally use chalks very much, but they worked really well and gave my card that realistic look I was after.

This stamp is called
Moonlight Faires, and can be found in the STORE.

And that is it from me today. I hope you like what Ive made.

"Pick of the Week" - 3

Good Morning Everybody!
Gwyneth here with a new "Pick of the Week" to hopefully inspire you.

When Marleen contacted me a few weeks ago and invited me to join the small team of crafters who were going to post on a rotating basis to the new "Pick of the Week" feature on this blog I felt very honoured, although not totally sure about my suitability for the job.  But having been persuaded to join this little Design Team I've thrown myself in to creating an assortment of different cards to show you over the next few months made using various items from the Stamping Dragon Designs shop.  A lot are works in progress, but the first is ready to show you today.

My one resolution at the beginning of this year was to regularly make cards for men and children, rather than just spending weeks making only cards for women (and I think I've been reasonably successful at this) so I decided to kick off my contribution to this blog by making a rustic/male card.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
Giraffe Digital Stamp - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
Kraft Card; 300gsm Super Smooth card stock; green glitter card; ProMarkers; Finger-lift Tape; Glue gel
Equipment:
Scoreboard; Joy Embossing Machine; Branch and assorted leaf dies

After printing the digi-stamp I coloured it in.  Rather than try to go for colouring a large background area smoothly I decided to go for a camouflaged look background.  I also did a separate panel of the camouflaged background for cutting out the leaves - because I wanted the colours to match and also wanted my leaves to look dappled rather than a flat colour.  I also did a panel of the same browns as used on the giraffe to be used for the branches.

I just tore around the digi to create my topper, and tore two mats of Kraft card and Glitter card to go behind it, and used an assortment of dies to cut out branches and leaves.  One sheet of Kraft Card was simply scored and folded in half to make the base card.

I stuck everything together with tape and glue - but I kept these to the centre of each piece so that the edges could just lift - it gives a bit of a dimensional look without making the card too deep to go into an ordinary envelope.

And that is it from me for today.
Marleen will be here next Monday with a project to share with you all, and Fran the Monday after that - I'll see you back here in three weeks time.

If you fancy trying out some of Stamping Dragon Designs, do pop to the Store to find all you need.
And why not join us in our Facebook group. We are a small fun group, with loads of exclusive challenges, inspiration and giveaways.

Till next time - Enjoy Your Crafting!
