September Colour Along - Combo's

Hi colouring buddies,

This month it's all about color combinations, in particular, denim.

Just by using different combinations of coloured pens you can get a wide variety of looks.

I have used the cute Bedtime Billy digi and have given him different denim looks.

First, here's a little video showing how I coloured  a 'Dirty Jean' look using the combination:

Petrol Blue, Denim Blue and Powder Blue

In the chart below, I have listed the pens I have used in the following combinations.

See you next month

The Shoe Fairy

Hi everyone! It's me, Tonya and I'm super excited to be sharing my first design project for the Dragons Lair Designs! This month's featured product is from the Southern Comfort Collection. After pondering on what I could create with all these wonderful digital images this is what I came up with.
First I printed one of the Southern Comfort Paper onto a 5"x7" sheet of cardstock. Then I ran the paper through my diecut machine to cut out the Rolodex card. If you don't have a Rolodex diecut you can purchase a Rolodex punch at your local office supply store that can punch the notches in the bottom of the card. The Rolodex card is approximately 4 1/2"x2 1/2".

Next I fussy cut individual images out from Southern Comfort Cluster Pack and Southern Comfort Elements digital packs which I inked edges and added Stickles to give some of the images a little glitter. Then I adhered to the top of the Rolodex and embellished with fun and whimsical crafty goodness.

The Southern Comfort Free Journal Card Sheet I fussy cut the woman with the violin out, applied pastel chalks to her dress, face and violin and glued one of the feathers to her back and then adhered her into the shoe. Both of these images where cut out from the Southern Comfort Cluster Pack. I also punched a crown from the leftover scraps that was printed and added pastel chalk to give it a little color. There you have it my whimsical little Shoe Fairy Rolodex card! I hope this has inspired you to create one for yourself. Please be sure to stop by the Dragons Lair Designs and check out the Southern Comfort Collection. There is just so much you can do with this collection!
Also if you have any questions please let me know.

Supplies Used:

Robin's Nest: Dew Drops
Button
Crystal Stickles
Baker's Twine
Sizzix: Rolodex Diecut
Crown Punch
Pastel Chalks
Sequins
Gems
Pearlized Pins
Tulle
Seed Beads

Thanks for stopping by, hope your Tuesday is wonderful and enjoy creating!

Vanessa DT - September Inspiration Post

Hi there everyone, hope you are all well today

I am back today with some more inspiration for you using the Southern Comfort Set

So for this one I decided to do a scrapbook layout and started off by printing off all of my elements to create my design

My scrapbook page is 8" x 8" in size and I started off by distressing the edges of the paper with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and matting it onto Brown Card

Next I fussy cut out all of the elements out and inked the edges of them with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I then cut my frame out and attached my photo behind, adding some foam pads to give some dimension

Once I had my frame in place, I added the fan to the side and then added the lace clusters underneath again raising them up on foam pads to get a bit of dimension.  I added the big bow which again I just had to give some dimension to with foam pads

Finally (almost) I added some of the Southern Comfort Paper Flowers beneath the bow and to the side of the frame finishing the whole thing off by adding some pearl gems

I love this set and hope that you do too, it really is so versatile and very easy to use and has certainly helped me make a lovely scrapbook layout that I will treasure.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and please do feel free to leave me a comment

Best wishes
Vanessa

Marleen DT - Bedtime girl

Hello fellow bloggers..

Its my turn to share a bit of inspiration.

Today I have used the image called "Bedtime Girl" &
The papers called "Dream Baby"
You can find both in the STORE...

Here is what I have made:
A simple card  of matting and layering, smothered in distress ink.

I printed "bedtime girl" on watercolour card stock and coloured with distress markers.

I mattet and layered my papers after distressing the edges.
THe little greeting is a freebie from a magazine. It looked perfect once it got a spot of distress ink.

My flower is one I pulled from my stash. It is originally a closed flower but the wire in the petels, allowed my to open the flower up.

And that is al from me for today.
Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

DLD 15th September Scrapbook Page

Hi there everyone hope you all survived school holidays without too many catastrophes lol.  Its all change here at Dragon Lair Designs.  As you can see we've decided to use the original title of Dragons Lair Designs

instead of Stamping Dragon & we'll use Dragons Lair Designs or DLD from now on.  We've also decided to incorporate scrap booking and altered art a lot more in our Inspiration blog to show case all the lovely papers designed by our Dragon Queen Janete Padley.  As someone who has never tried scrap booking I found this quite daunting at first!  But I have made the odd altered art item so I decided to give scrap booking a go & if that didn't work out its was off to the boxes lol.

We've also decided that we'd all like the same items to work with to see what we can all do with it. So for this month we're using Southern Comfort papers etc. I acutally did 2 projects both of which are firsts for me lol.  My first digital scrapbook page & my first physical scrapbook page I hope you like what i've done & remember to go easy they're my firsts!!

Can you spot Tj (my grandson)???  He's in the O lol a tiny baby & now 10mths they grow so quickly!!

This is me & my sisters (Dawn, me Jacqui & Ivy) at our kids (Annie the blonde one is Ivy's & my 3 Ryan, Lee-anne & Jade are about somewhere lol) sports day in the Model Primary School.  Omg I loved that perm lol

Once again I hope you like & until next time Jacqui over and out.

SDD 15th September Inspiration by Jacqui using Flowers for Mum

Hello again to all you awesome bloggers hope you're having a great crafting time, and making lots of wild & wonderful projects to inspire me! Without all the inspiration provided by all the crafting world i'd never have had the courage to apply for my DT position at the Stamping Dragon Challenge and without their support & inspiration I wouldn't have had the courage to apply for any of my other DT's. Their facebook page is where I got my help, encouragement & support oh & lots of fun & laughter too we're a little bit crazy I think. So i'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Queen of Dragons Janette, her DT leader Marleen & my fellow DT members especially Sarah who I hope will always be my friends. And now onto the interesting stuff lol.

Today i'm showing my inspiration post using Flowers for mum from Stamping Dragon Designs a great image which is extremely versatile. I think this image would suit quite a few different genre's young & old which is why I didn't use a sentiment. I just said hello!

What I used

Promarkers
Red Card
Back ground cut with Cameo
(One of my actually successful attempts! I'm not sure the cameos for me)

From Stash:

Sentiment
Ceramic flower
Bow & gem
Banners

Till next time all you lovely people

Jacqui over and out xx

Maya DT - My Beautiful Girl.

Hi peeps! Today, I'm going to share a digital layout for your inspiration.

My Beautiful Girl~

It's my turn to create using the same kit, Southern Comfort Collection. I also used the freebie, Southern Comfort Free Journal Kit.  As Marleen decided that we will be creating using the same kit/image every month, so that we'll be able to see 1001 (a bit exaggerating here, lol!) variety ways to use one kit!

So what do you think of my digital layout? I used Photoshop creating this layout :) I love the features of photoshop, using a lot of duplicating, layering, erasing & manipulating.

I would love to see your take using the same creation. You can drop by my blog & take a look if you want.

Inspiration by Gwyneth - September

Good Morning Everybody!

Normally, when I do a lot of digital design construction, with elements from a kit, I still print them out at the end and usually do a bit of hybrid crafting with the design I've come up with.  But today I decided to go a different route, I decided to take one kit from the store, and use it to create several digital layouts.  The kit I chose had an old style photo within it, so I decided to use that as a focus for all the digital layouts, but to see what different looks I could get around it just using items from the kit.  Although I've done them as digital scrapbook layouts, the same sort of ideas can be used for card fronts (making the different layers digitally apear to be dimensional, rather than having to build up lots of layers on a card means less weight and less hight on a finished card which can help postage costs a lot), or you could have a play and put one or more of your own photos into similar layouts.

Even if you never print off your digital creations, or never even show them to anybody else, the aim of this inspiration post is to show you that if you play with just one digital kit you can get different looks.  And if you do decide to print off your creations and perhaps add a bit of glitter and glaze, you can have fab results.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
  • "Deco Daze Collection - Page Kit" - found - Here - in the shop.
Consumables:
No Consumables Used - as I've only made these as digital layouts I've not used any consumables this time.

Equipment:
No Crafting Equipment Used - other than my laptop and the software installed on it.  I used My Craft Studio Elite, but you can have a play with other software such as Serif CraftArtist 2 to get similar results.

These are the layouts I came up with:

Today the method is simple - I just took the papers and elements from the kit into my graphics package and played!  Resizing, layering up, moving around, etc., etc.!

-oOo-
And that is it from me for today.
Please keep coming back regularly to look at new posts as over the next few weeks you'll find various "Inspiration by ..." posts appear on this "Dragons Den" blog, as well as colouring tutorials and other posts by different Design Team members.  I'll be back with more posts over the coming months as well, so keep an eye out for those.
