Hi everyone i'm back again with another sneak peek from the upcoming NEW Simply Soft kit to be released on February 1st. For this one I upcycled a round box that had tealight candles in it. I took the papers & elements into Craft Artist 2 & placed one of the elements on top of a paper then sized it to fit my box top before printing. Then I cut the butterfly & flowers out before shaping them and to finish I cut the centre flower with a die from the papers. I'm hoping you like & have time to stop by & let me know. And don't forget to stop by the DLD fb page too for freebies, fun & challenges. Links below as always till next time Jacqui over and out.

January Colour along - Basic Blending
Basic Blending
The key to blending is knowing any lighter shade will move the darker shade around. So, when blending two colours together, always use the lighter one to blend.
This month I am using the Autumn Leaves digi, available from the shop.
Step
1: Choose three colors that will form a natural blending group, light, medium and dark. I have chosen Apple, Grass and Lush Green Promarkers
Step 2: Colour the whole area to be coloured with the lightest shade
(Apple). This saturate the paper, this helps with the blending process
Step 3: Add the medium shade (Grass) to areas to be darkened. Leave some of the lightest shade (Apple), this area
will become your highlights.
Step 4: Now add the darkest shade (Lush Green) to the shadowed areas. Make sure to leave some of the medium and light shades.
Step 5: Now we move onto the blending process. Using the medium
shade (Grass), flick outwards where
the dark and
medium shades meet. Do not go over the entire dark shaded area or too
far into the medium shaded area
Step 6. Using the same technique, blend the medium shade into the light shade with the light colour (Apple)
Step 7: Repeat steps 5 and 6 as necessary to get a smooth transition from light to dark.
And here's all the leaves coloured in the same way
Here are some more colours I had a little play with for Autumn Leaves
See you next month
Happy colouring

Appreciate a Dragon Day
Did you know that there was an "Appreciate a Dragon Day"? I didn't until a member of the Dragons Lair Design Fan Group on Facebook mentioned it in the group earlier this week.
Well - if there's one thing that those of us in the Fan Group and the various Dragons Lair Designs Designs Team definately do it's Appreciate a Dragon, or two, or three ....!
So I just had to do a little research and find out about the day, and I also had to start a challenge in the group for group members to make any new project with any, or all, of the Dragons Lair Designs dragons on it.
It seems that "Appreciate a Dragon Day", on 16th January, was first started in 2004, so that's over ten years ago. You can read more about it by clicking - Here!
And if you are new-ish to the word of Dragons Lair Designs you might like to have a look back at some previous posts on this blog that give you a bit of a history of two of our dragons:-

Meet the Dragons .......... Rupert (4)
Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (1)
Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (2)

Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (4)
These are the creations that members of the Dragons Lair Designs Fan Group made for the quick challenge -
Diane made a lovely card using the "Ruperts New Friend" digi-stamp.
And for my own creation I got out my water colour markers to colour in the "Family Photo" digi stamp, and raided my box of cut leaves and flowers for the embelishments - I really should make a point of using up more of them before the box becomes over-full of further additions.
Till next time - Have Fun Crafting!

Just to show that dragons come in different colours Jacqui coloured in the same image, "Penny's Discovery", twice with Penny coloured in purple and in lovely golden tones.

Sneak peek no 3 of upcoming NEW Simply Soft Kit/Stepper Card
Hi again hope you're loving all the sneak peeks lol. For this one I made a stepper card (cos I had some in my stash the right base colour). I used the NEW Simply Soft papers from DLD and also one of the two digi stamps you get with the kit. I really love that we get digi stamps this time too. I coloured her with my Spectrum Noir pens and distressed everything with a Gathered Twigs distress ink. I also used one of the mat elements and stamped my sentiment on it in the same distress ink. Then I added some creata rub ons a funky little hat some twine & a heart to finish. Hope you like till next time Jacqui over and out.

DLD Inspiration DT project/15th January/Cinnamon Spice
Hi everyone Jacqui here with my Inspiration DT project for DLD. Today i'm using the awesome new Cinnamon Spice kit & i've also used Rupert & Nellie image. I've tried to make a vintage feel card for this project (i'm not very good at vintage lol). I printed off 2 of the papers and used some golden brown mirror card for my mats. For the top layer I used a tonic die to cut the paper before adding my mat. I've also used a Tonic strip die. My image is coloured with Spectrum Noirs before distressing round the edge with distress ink. I cut some maple leaves with a Marianne die then I just embellished with my stash. I hope you like it till next time Jacqui over and out.

First additions, the cream patterned paper I added the frame with leaves on to
It before I printed it to save too much cutting out. This and the lovely rust coloured
Striped paper was liberally spritzed with orangy gold and pearly white.
