Inspiration by Gwyneth - May 2016 - Butterfly Garden

Good Morning Everybody!

Hi everybody.

For our May posts every Dragons Lair Designs Inspiration Blog Design Team member will be working with the wonderful new collection "Butterfly Garden" that was launched in the Dragons Lair Designs Store on the 1st.

I decided to go for a home decor item this time.

And this is what I came up with::

These are what I used:

Stamping Dragon Designs Item:
Items from the "Butterfly Garden" collection available - here - in the store.

Consumables:
Hunkydory Foiled Frame; 250gsm Super Smooth white paper;  Assorted Nuvo Embelishment Mousse; Tonic Funky Glue Pen; Pinflair Glue Gel;
Equipment:
Scissors; My Craft Studio Elite Software

Method:

I took items from the collection into the My Craft Studio software and re-sized and copied as I wanted.  I also added wording to the "plant label" element.

Pili-pala, Iâr fach yr haf, and Gloyn byw, are all Welsh names for Butterflies.

I printed everything out and cut out the label, butterflies, background, etc.

I then tore pieces from two of the plainer backgrounds and made spirals before folding and twirling into torn paper roses.  Some of the same background was torn into a panel and I went over the edge with the Tonic moose before sticking it to the background panel.  I used two different colours of the Tonic mousse on the torn edges of the roses, and the another colour on the foiled frame.

Putting the matted background panel inside the back of the pre-scored frame I folded up the box frame and stuck the foiled frame on top.

I then used glue gel to stick the flowers and butterflies within the frame and the label and one small butterfly on the edge of the frame.
I hope you like what I came up with.

Jacqui
Jacqui has been having some fun making some digital scrapbook layouts using various items of the collection.

Well the tag forms part of a larger page in the calendar she's building up over the year.

Diane
Diane gave you a sneaky peak during the last week by showing this lovely little card.

For today's launch Diane has made this gorgeous little card.

Nan
A week ago Nan teased everybody with this little bit of a creation she'd made using this collection

Keep an eye out for her post showing you what she's made in the near future.

Elves Inspiration from Susan R

Hi Susan R here!

This is another post featuring the latest collection at

ELVES

I was fortunate enough to have a mini kit to play with
- and I showed you some Elvish tags to whet your appetite at the beginning of the month...

and my calendar...

Today I am showing you some more makes made with elements from this collection.

First, using two of the papers, I have a mason jar.
The parts for this were die cut using a Sizzix die - Canning Jars 3D, assembled with a ribbon attached.

This treat box is suitable for a few sweets...

Next I made a choice of gift tags to attach to the mason jar - the first is similar to the ones above - just the image cut out and distressed around the edges with 'tea dye'.

The second uses this element from Elves which was a freebie on the blog:

The pieces were cut out, distressed with tea dye, layered up with silicon glue, punched and a ribbon added - this ribbon is one of several I upcycled from Christmas crackers!

I attached it to the Mason Jar with a small peg.

The third is a kite card - find instructions here. I have used several paper designs, two of them printed back to back.

Hope you like my makes!!

Do take a look at Dragons Lair Designs for 'Elves' and all the other lovely designs!

Happy Crafting!

Remember That There's A
40% Discount
On Everything From The Collection For A Limited Period

Our Design Team members have had lots of fun making different creations from elements from the "Understated Elegance Collection" that launched in the Dragons Lair Designs store on the 1st February.

With several items shown online by various Design Team members since our post on the launch day, we thought that we'd collect some of them together to show you today.  We hope they show you some of the versatility of the collection and let you see some creations you have missed seeing.

Firstly A Giveaway

Dragons Lair Designs designer Janette has made a "Handmade Mini Album" using this new collection, which she is generously going to give away on the Dragons Lair Designs FB Page - Here! And it's not just the mini album she's giving away but the BRAND NEW Understated Elegance Collection on CD as well. The details are in the pinned post and a winner will be chosen after the giveaway closes on the 29th.
Here's a peak of the mini album.

Gwyneth
On the 2nd I showed you what it was I'd been teasing you with before the launch.  A bookmark holder with a stand and a hanging hole so that it could either be stood on a bookshelf or hung up nearby.

Janette had been teasing you with part photos of several of her creations before the launch -
Since the launch she's been showing you full photos of her crafted items.

Susan
Susan showed you a couple of bits of her creation before the launch and showed you exactly what it was she made with the bits on her own blog on launch day and I promissed to show them here on today's post - so here it is -
Susan also used a background from the collection for her make earlier this week which you can see here - Understated Elegance Inspiration for the February Dragons Lair Challenge - Susan R

Keep an eye out for even more creations from the Understated Elegance Collection made by our very creative Design Team members.

Appreciate a Dragon Day

Did you know that there was an "Appreciate a Dragon Day"?  I didn't until a member of the Dragons Lair Design Fan Group on Facebook mentioned it in the group earlier this week.

Well - if there's one thing that those of us in the Fan Group and the various Dragons Lair Designs Designs Team definately do it's Appreciate a Dragon, or two, or three ....!

So I just had to do a little research and find out about the day, and I also had to start a challenge in the group for group members to make any new project with any, or all, of the Dragons Lair Designs dragons on it.

It seems that "Appreciate a Dragon Day", on 16th January, was first started in 2004, so that's over ten years ago.  You can read more about it by clicking - Here!

And if you are new-ish to the word of Dragons Lair Designs you might like to have a look back at some previous posts on this blog that give you a bit of a history of two of our dragons:-
Meet the Dragons ........ Rupert (1)
Meet the Dragons .......... Rupert (2)
Meet the Dragons ........ Rupert (3)
Meet the Dragons .......... Rupert (4)
Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (1)
Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (2)
Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (3)
Meet the Dragons ........ Penny (4)

These are the creations that members of the Dragons Lair Designs Fan Group made for the quick challenge -

Just to show that dragons come in different colours Jacqui coloured in the same image, "Penny's Discovery", twice with Penny coloured in purple and in lovely golden tones.

Diane made a lovely card using the "Ruperts New Friend" digi-stamp.

And for my own creation I got out my water colour markers to colour in the "Family Photo" digi stamp, and raided my box of cut leaves and flowers for the embelishments - I really should make a point of using up more of them before the box becomes over-full of further additions.
