Crafting on a budget - flowers from around the home

Hi everyone I hope that you are all well and happy. Its time for this fortnights Crafting on a budget feature and as the title suggests I have created a flower using things that can be found around the home and I hope that you like it.
Pic 1
Shows a selection of things I used to create the flower. (also used some newspaper. not pictured )

 Pic 2
I have cut out some petal shapes from the plastic cream tub and some newspaper . I also cut out a circle shape from the cream tub and attached the petal shapes to it using double sided red sticky tape to form the flower and added a button to the centre.
Pic 3
Shows the flower completed. I have used a piece of twine for the stem and cut out of newspaper two leaf shapes.
Pic 4
Shows a card I created using the flower I made, paper, card and embellishments from my stash.
The paper under the gingham is from the aged journal - Angels collection available in the store.
Of course there are many materials around the home that can be used to make the flower so why not have a look around and see what you can come up with!
Thank you for stopping by and don't forget we still have a challenge running over on the challenge blog and lots of fun stuff going on on a daily basis over in the Facebook group so come along and join in the fun.

A card with a Difference

Hi everyone, I thought I would show you how to make a slightly different card this week .

Here is the finished card.

So to make this card with a difference I took 2 8x8 cards , papers printed from the Stamping Dragon Designs Store , I used Primary Colours  (red) and Coffee Cream Card Papers (green), some mirri card, card flowers and the image is Lucy Lion .

First I took the 2 8x8 cards and cut the front of them to create the pocket shape opening.

Then I stuck the 2 cards together.

Next I cut the mirri card to fit the flaps on the front of the card.

I then stuck them to the front of the card, and then I stuck the flaps down at the bottom to creat a pocket.

On the red piece of card I printed a sentiment , and then cut some of the green paper to fit.

This then is trimmed to fit inside the pocket , and then I decorated the front with the flowers and the image.

Hope this gives you some inspiration.

If you like the image and papers, why not pop over to the Stamping Dragon Designs  store and have a browse.
Or come over and join our fun friendly Stamping Dragon Facebook Group .

Hope to see you soon

Pick of the week

Hi Folks it's Tania here with my second pick of the week.
Where do the weeks keep going
Christmas is just around the corner
31 days and counting
The image that I have used has come from the fabulous Stamping Dragon Designs Shop .

There are some wonderful images that you can purchase and once you buy one you will be hooked.

For my second image I have chosen
a fun image
Cat on fence
I have coloured my image with promarkers( I love ginger cats, so most cats get coloured to look like my large ginger tom, Monty). To finish the image I used cloud masks and dusted over with my brushes to make my sky  I then decoupaged the cat on the fence. The image topper is mounted on black card then on orange paper mounted on a brown card blank. I used a footprint punch to  cut out the footprints and finished off with some Kitty ribbon from my stash. The sentiment is computer generated.
The image could be used for a male or female card for any occasion.
Make sure you pop on over to the Shop and have a browse , there is a great selection of  Images available for you to choose from.

We also have a Stamping Dragon Facebook Group , where we have lots of fun , inspiration for you , mini challenges and lots , lots more, so why not come over and see us.

Well that's  it from me for today, Gwyneth  will be bringing you the next
Pick of the Week next Monday ,
See you soon

Stamping Dragon Design Inspiration

Morning everyone..

Im here this morning with a wee bit of inspiration.

For today I've made a wee christmas card.
The funny thing is.. I have used the usual christmas papers or even a christmas image..
Anyway, let me show you..
The papers Ive used are called "Gentle Waves" and the image is called "Woodland Path"
Click on the name to be taken directly to the papers/image or click HERE to go to the STORE..

All I did for this card was mat & layer the papers and the image. The strips across are washi tape.
I then cut the little banners (using a die) and added the letters and the little snow flake. (both from my stach) And that was it.

I made this card quite a while ago, when the summer papers was on the table but as I like to be ahead of myself I challenged myself to make a christmas card.

Anyway I hope you like what Ive made.
Thank you for stopping by & for any any comments left behind.

Guest Blogger Of The Month - from the SDD Facebook Group

 Hi Everybody!

Time for this months Guest Blogger spot to find out something about a member of the Stamping Dragon Design Facebook group and showcase some of their work using SDD items.

This month we are featuring group member Gwyneth George.

Here is what Gwyneth has to say:

Some of you who are regulars to this blog may well be asking yourself - "How come she's doing a Guest Blogger Showcase spot on "The Dragons Den" when she's been posting to the "Pick of the Week" spot as Design Team Member, as well as doing a pictorial tutorial on the this blog, already?"

Well here's a little bit of background info. for you:

I've been a crafter of one sort or another for most of my life (a variety of crafts not just cardmaking as those of you who have visited my own Blog Crefftau MAES MIERI Crafts Blog will already have seen).  But being forced to take early retirement because ill health and worsening disabilities some three years ago meant I could give more time to my crafting, to plan ahead, and have fun and relax making things when I'm able, rather than have to rush projects because they were needed and weren't ready, because work and other considerations had got in the way.

Not being able to work also means that I have more time, (though quite often not the health or energy,) to sit in bed with my laptop and browse around, and get involved in crafting forums and groups on the Internet.  This contact with other crafters has been great because I realised that there were lots of crafters who, like me, had health/disability issues, and when I said that I was unable to craft because of aches and pains there were others out there who understood.  And of course all this browsing around means I could see all the wonderful crafting items that are available as well as gain inspiration from other very talented crafters.

I joined the Stamping Dragon Designs Facebook group around 9 months ago - because I'd come across Janette Padley's lovely dragons, (and other digital downloadable items) on craftsUprint and then found out that there was this group on FB for dragon fans.

A short while after I'd joined, all the FB group members were asked if they would like to do a one off, Guest Blogger, showcase on this blog.  After thinking for a bit, and considering whether it would be something I'd be able to commit to and be able to see through to completion, I decided to put my name forward - after all, it was going to be far ahead in the future, and I could start working on it way before the date.

I was given this mid-November Guest Blogger slot! - and so I started thinking about what to do as a project for the blog with lots of ideas flitting through my mind - although I have to admit that it was only some six weeks ago that it actually clicked with me exactly how I was going to make my creations.

But then:

A few months ago, I was approached by Marleen and asked if I would consider becoming a regular member of a small Design Team on this blog.  Because of my fluctuating health issues I was rather reticent to do this - but after some persuasion (Marleen is very good at persuasion LOL - she explained that I would only need to post every few weeks, could take my pick of digi-stamps from a list provided to work with so could pick things that inspired me, and could prepare several projects and posts ahead of time, when feeling reasonable, so that if I was having a bad spell I wouldn't need to stress about not being up to doing a project and post) - I found myself agreeing.

So there you have it - I was scheduled to do a Guest Blogger Showcase posting here on The Dragons Den before I was approached to become a Design Team Member doing my regular "Pick of the Week" postings, and rather than shuffle everybody's slots around it was decided that we'd stick to the original "Guest" schedule and I'd take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.

For my projects for this post I decided to make a "Christmas Recipes" box and matching Christmas card.  The box has cards inside for writing out favourite Christmas recipes on one side and putting photos on the other - though I haven't done this yet.

Stamping Dragon Designs Item Used:
Pennys Pudding digital stamp

Christmas Recipe Box

I used the large sheets of cardstock to score, cut and stick together to make the box and lid.  I printed and coloured in the “Penny” image.  I also printed out the backgrounds and other elements I needed from the kit, at the right size for my box, and cut, matted and layered, and stuck these on my box and card, finishing off with holly leaves from my crafty stash and some glitter glue.
"Rysetiau Nadolig" is Welsh for "Christmas Recipes" - one bonus of using digital stamps and kits like you can find in the Stamping Dragon Shop is the ability to make your creations in any language (being able to make Welsh cards when the Welsh ones in the shops were more expensive, and with less choice, than the English ones was one reason why cardmaking became one of my main crafts).
Even the back of my box is decorated.
I've made little cards to go in the box.  This one is for "Pwdin Nadolig" - "Christmas Pudding".  I'll put a picture on the front of the cards and the recipe on the backs.

Christmas Card

After printing everything out, and colouring in the digi-stamp, I cut out and then matted and layered the pieces.  I used a Perfect Layers ruler to get an even, small, border.  I stuck everything together with a variety of sticky mediums to give different dimensions.  Some glitter glue was added for a twinkle, and a peel-off greeting “Nadolig Llawen” – which is Welsh for “Happy Christmas” was also added.
I used a clear glitter glue on the sauce over the pudding and red glitter glue on the holly berries.

I hope that you've liked what I've shown you in today's post and will come back daily to check out future posts on various themes that are posted practically daily.
Gwyneth

Crafting on a budget - Altered vase

Hi everyone I hope that you are all well and happy! Did you know that we have a challenge running over at the Stamping with the Dragon challenge blog ? pop on over and take a peek and enter for a chance to win a fab prize to spend in the store!
Its time for the Crafting on a Budget feature and this fortnight I would like to share with you a vase that I have altered and I hope that you like it.
Pic 1
showing the beat up old vase and a selection of materials and papers to use.
 Pic 2
shows the vase part revamped
 Pic 3
Here it is the finished vase.

 Pic 5

 Pic 6
close up of jute bow
And here is how I did it.
I selected the papers, flowers and embellishments and cut and tore them then put them to one side. Next I covered the vase with Modge Podge and added the torn and cut papers until the whole of the vase was covered and then popped a layer of Modge Podge and left it to dry .
Once dry I added the paper flowers again using Modge Podge and when they were dry I used a little guilding wax on the edges of the papers.
Next I added all around the vase a piece of jute and red lace, tied some jute in a bow, attached it using red double sided tape and popped a hessian rose bud at the centre. I also added a piece of lace to the top of the vase and some card candi to the centre of the flowers.
Altogether this has cost around £1.50 to make so it really has been Crafting on a Budget!
Here are the links to the papers that I have used
Lost and Found Treasures mini theme
Cinnamon Spice papers
Aged Journal - Angels kit

I hope that you have enjoyed my Crafting on a Budget feature this fortnight and I hope that you will join me in two weeks time for more Crafting on a Budget where I will be sharing with you " Flowers from around the home".
Thanks for stopping by
see you next time
Hugs and Love

Pick of the week

Hi everyone..

Another month has flown by and its once more my time to do the pick of the week..
Being the DTL (design team leader) I have the honour of being one of the first to see and often also play with the new designs coming to the Stamping Dragon STORE.

The pick of the week is really for us to show and refresh some of the older images from the store, but with this brand new image, I just HAD to show her off.

She is the lastest member of our Dragon Family and is called Lulu.
I am VERY proud of Lulu as I got to name her.

Please meet Lulu..

And here is what I did with her:

The little butterflies at the bottom is really my pick of the week. I had really printed this butterfly in topper size, but as I decided to colour Lulu in yellow, it hit me that the 2 would work really well together. I simply printed the butterflies out in a row and cut it as a boarder. I printed 1 extra in the same size and layered up on a foampad.

My little butterfly is part of this pack. They all come as individual files so each one can be printed on its own as well as being re-sized to your hearts content..
You can find them HERE...

And that is it from me today.
Thank you fro stopping by and for any comments left behind.
